Jesus taught us that daily spending time in the Word of God is essential for the health and growth of a believer. Just as regularly eating meals is important for our physical health, regularly feeding on the Word of God is vital for our spiritual health.

HOW TO S.O.A.P. JOURNAL

S – SCRIPTURE Open your Bible to today’s Scripture passage, following the daily Bible reading plan listed below. Read and re-read the passage, taking time to allow God to speak to you. Write down the reference for today’s Scripture reading in your journal.

O – OBSERVATION Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truths of Scripture to you. Record how God speaks to you through the verses you read. Start with this question: what does this passage teach me about God?

A – APPLICATION Allow God’s Word to make a difference in your life by applying Scripture to shape your thoughts, words, and actions. Ask: how does the truth about God that I learned from this passage apply to my situation right now? Record your applications.

P – PRAYER Spend time in personal worship through prayer, thanking God for speaking to you and asking for the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to follow through with your applications.
